Public Lectures
Introduction: Prof Ruth Farwell, Vice
Chancellor
Our vision for sport and physical activity is
to be a university renowned throughout the region for our support
of sport and physical activity through academic studies, individual
participation and achievement, and through engagement with our
community and our partners.
We are undertaking a number of projects in the
run-up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and are
delighted that this new Public Lecture Series features leading
figures from the world of sport, who are helping us to play our
part in contributing to the build-up to the Games and their
legacy.
Our Nursing programmes and applied health care research
activities now have a new home at our Uxbridge Campus, which boasts
state-of-the-art skills laboratories. We were ranked number one for
Nursing out of the nine universities providing nurse education for
NHS London and are proud of our links with the NHS, and so it is
fitting that this Public Lectures Series also features leading
figures from the world of health care.
There will be an opportunity for you to put
your questions to the speakers, and the lectures will be chaired by
Prof Peter Thomas MBE, Visiting Professor of Sport at Bucks New
University and Chair of Bucks Sport, and Prof David Sines, Bucks
New University's Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean: Society
& Health.
I hope that you will be able to join us for
this and future lectures, and look forward to what promises to be
an entertaining and thought-provoking series. You can find out more
about the lectures by clicking on the links on the left-hand side,
